Creating a playbook

Describe the job in plain words — the assistant drafts it, you confirm it.

There are three ways to create a playbook. All of them end the same way: nothing exists until you confirm it.

With the assistant

Playbooks → New playbook opens the creation conversation: "What should this playbook do?" Describe the job in plain words — what to check, what to post, and how often. For example:

Every weekday morning, summarise triggered incidents and the deploys that went out overnight.

The assistant drafts the four things a playbook needs — a name, instructions, the skills to mount, and a schedule — asking only for what it can't infer. When the draft is complete you get a confirmation card, "Ready when you are", where the name and instructions are still editable in place. Create & enable creates the playbook, enables it, and from there it runs on schedule. Open it to try a test run first if you like.

If you have no connected apps yet, the page asks you to add one first — a playbook runs against your connected apps.

Manually

Do it manually is always available beside the conversation. Before the conversation starts, it asks only for a name and creates a paused, empty playbook you fill in yourself on its page. Once a conversation is underway, the same button carries everything drafted so far into a paused playbook instead.

Note: A manually created playbook's schedule defaults to weekdays at 9:00 UTC. The assistant path uses your browser's timezone instead. The playbook page always shows which timezone applies — "Times are in {timezone}" — but there is currently no in-app way to change it after creation.

From onboarding

During workspace setup, the create-playbook step ends with an "Enable and run now" card: on confirm the playbook is created, enabled, and its first real run starts immediately instead of waiting for the next scheduled slot. The schedule takes over from there.

From a collection

A gallery collection can seed a playbook for you: Create playbook from this collection creates a paused playbook with the collection's instruction template and all member skills mounted, then opens it for review.

After creating

  • Refine the instructions any time — edits save automatically ("All changes saved").
  • Adjust the schedule and mounted skills from the playbook page.
  • If your plan's active-playbook cap is reached, the creation page says so and offers to manage existing playbooks instead — see Playbooks.
